Is it necessary to wear a condom while on birth control?

Does boyfriend need to wear condom if he's clean and I'm on birth control?

  • I've been on birth control for almost 2 months now, and I made my boyfriend get tested. He showed me all his paperwork too, and everything came back negative for HIV, syphilis, herpes, gonorrhea, chlamydia and hepatitis. Should he still wear a condom? I am so nervous to get off it and am wondering if it's OK now.

  • Answer:

birth control is known to fail... if you dont want to be pregnant its really just a back-up to condoms. so unless you want to have a baby. wrap that ****....

You didn't mention what type of birth control you're taking, but keep in mind that most forms of hormonal birth control (the pill, the patch, the ring, or the shot) are only ~98% effective with PERFECT use. With imperfect use (such as forgetting pills, not replacing the patch in time, leaving the ring in too long, or missing shots) drops the protection rate significantly. If you're going to opt for sex without condoms, make sure you do not skip any pills, make sure you replace your patch/ring on time, do not miss any appointments for the shot, etc. and you're most likely protected against pregnancy. But even if you do everything correctly, you STILL could get pregnant. Like I said earlier, these forms of birth control are only ~98% effective, so 2 women out of 100 still get pregnant each year despite doing everything properly. Is that 2% chance of pregnancy something you're willing to risk? If so, go ahead, and good luck. PS - if your boyfriend has had any other sexual partners within the past 6 months, you should wait an additional 6 months and have him tested again. If he has had recent partners some STDs may not show up on early test results.

You're safe. Go for it.

if you are both clean and you are on the pill, then go ahead without it. however, it is better to be safe than sorry...

If u want to avoid pregnancy possibility please note that "NO SINGLE PROTECTION PROTECTS " U always combination is better, like 1.pills+condom(best) provided U take with out break, and taking for min.4to 6months 2.pills+coitus ineruptus 3.pills+spermicidal locally 4.IUCD+condom Beware in this world an infected individual can produce a normal report ,B careful

It's probably OK, but are you sure he's clean on herpes? Most people have the virus in their bodies, even though they rarely have outbreaks. If he's clean down there, though, it should be fine.

Why not just wear the condom...you are safer from any mistakes that way. Because really if something happens and you get pregnant, think about it, "Was the different feeling really worth me being pregnant?"
