What is the difference between what's and whats?

I have been wondering what is the difference between What's and Whats for a while. I always thought that What's that meant "what is that". While whats meant on something your not describing. How about there's and theres.... What's the difference between those? Please describe it in a sentence if possible. What does this mean Whats'. If describe the difference between whats, what's, whats', theres', there's, and theres than thank you.

What's is the contraction of 'what is'.....the other, whats.....does NOT exist in the dictionary.....just a slang used so often that people actually believe it is a word.

OH it's the same BUT.... what's is what is. like don't is do not. but like when you don't wanna write much then you can write without the >> ' << e.g: "dont" - "don't" or "do not" "whats" - what's" or "what is" "theres" - "there's" or "there is" "cant" - "can't" or "cannot" "wheres" - "where's" or "where is" "thats" - "that's" or "that is" there some examples. :)
