How to start a paragraph with speech?

I'm writing a book and was wondering how to start it with speech? I mean, because it's the vey first thing that you are writing, would you use the 'tab' button or not? Would it be: *tab*..."Speech" or just "Speech" Because it is the very first thing you are writing so would you need to use the 'tab' button?
Answer:

Just speech. e.g. "So is that all?" mrs x impatiently said to ms y. "Everything you came for?" In a written essay, it IS *tab* speech.
