Potential means to have the ability to succeed or become something; or to be able to happen. ("The teachers say that Larry is lazy, but has the potential to become a straight-A student if he tried hard enough.") When they say that they want passion, they basically mean that they want to see your enthusiasm and love for singing. It isn't just an audition that you don't really care about. Potential means being capable to do well in the line of work. They want you to have what it takes to succeed as a singer.
