Can you use Standard Shipping in a Priority Mail Box?

USPS priority mail question.?

  • Hi, I am going to the USPS office tomorrow to ship something. Problem is, I am looking at the USPS website on prices for Priority Mail. I have a lens I need to send out. It says that there are no weighing or anything, and that if it fits in the box and is less than 70 lbs, there is only one price for all. Is this correct? Also since they have their own box to use, you can't send it out in your own box right? If so, do they have their own USPS box at the postal office for me to use? Or would I have to order the boxes myself so I can ship it out? Thanks. This is my first time shipping something.

  • Answer:

You are describing their flat rate shipping product. You do have to use their box (your item must fit in their box). You can get the boxes there. I think you can also request them online and your mail carrier will bring them to you. But you don't have that time with this item. But it is correct; if it fits in their box and is under 70 pounds, it ships anywhere in the country for that one amount.
