Is there a limit of how many times one can study abroad?

Could the Disney work-study program be biased?

  • I always loved Disney; I used to own every single Classic movie on DVD. Even before going to college, I wanted to be a part of the work-study program. I had a friend who was 2 years older; he had gone to Orlando on the program the previous year. I asked him to tell me everything I needed to know to get picked. He told me I needed to be all smiles. I didn’t pay any attention to it at the time, but my friend was tall, with green eyes, and blondish hair. My first semester at college, I went to apply to the Disney work-study program. I went with my roommate, he was tall, with green eyes, and blondish hair. He roommate was there only to accompany me, but one of the interviewers encouraged him to apply, and he got picked. I didn’t pay any attention to it at the time, but every single one who was picked was tall, with green eyes, and blondish hair. I really wanted to get picked, so I tried to know everything about the selection process. People told me the Disney did not want anyone with long hair which was not a problem, I always had short hair. They told me they didn’t like people with tattoos or piercings, I don’t have any of those either. They told me they didn’t like facial hair, which was no problem; I’m always clean shaven. I studied college 4 years, and every single semester I applied for the work-study program, and never got picked. I applied 8 times, and never got picked. However, I was really trying to find out everything I could about the program, and study the people who did get picked. The people who got picked were not necessary smiling people, or had a clean cut grooming. The only thing they all had in common was that they were all tall, had green eyes, and blondish hair. In 8 semesters, the people from the Disney work-study program NEVER picked someone who was not tall, who did not have green eyes, or who did not have blondish hair. The first 3 or 4 semesters, it could have been a coincidence, but 8 TIMES. Could it be me, or does is the Disney work-study program biased?

  • Answer:

there is no reason they would have not picked you because of your appearance if you are in the Disney look guidelines. It had to have been something with your application, either you did not apply for enough roles or they did not feel you were the best candidate for the roles you applied on, based on your interview answers.
