What does fixed dividends mean ?

  • when i was studying financial management ... i read this sentence "Preferred Stockholders receive fixed dividends "" i know that preferred stockholders get the dividends before the common stock holder...and my questions is what does fixed dividends mean ?? a changing rate of dividends or what ?? plzzzzzzzz help ....thankxxx
