What are the most successful online businesses?

For those of you who have online businesses, what method do you use to accept online orders?

  • I mean, which company do you use? I'm searching for an online payment processing company. I tried my personal bank for a merchant account, lots of hoops to jump through there. And, yes, I do plan to also let customers pay by PayPal. But for those customers that don't have Paypal, I want them to be able to use their credit cards to order something. Somebody mentioned this great company to me, ClickBank, it's actually an affiliate marketing program, and it seemed like the perfect match, because their niche is digital products and that's exactly what I deal in. I contacted them to ask them a few questions, and they had no clue what they were talking about. Disappointing... (if anybody knows any alternatives to them that'd be great, I am not interested in the fact they are an affiliate program, I'm interested in the fact that they are an online payment processor) So yeah. I really need some sort of method for processing credit cards on-site. What do you use? Thank you so much!

    Paypal is very expensive! You can add a shopping cart to your page or use authorize.net then you can use Worldpay to actually process the transactions. They are one of three companies in the US that handles your money both on the front end and back end. They also can create gift cards for you. Paypal does provide credit card processing if your account is upgraded to business, which is especially recommended if you wish to process a lot of transactions as the lower plans have serious limitations. Don't worry about upgrading. They won't ask for bank or company registration papers. As for a digital product sale service, you could check http://easypay.juzaz.com

I've used Paypal for years and never had a problem. I know some people have had charges reversed, but the same thing happens with credit cards. Even if you only take checks, a number of them with bounce. One thing that people do to protect themselves is they remove the money from their Paypal account as soon as they receive it. that way if someone tries to reverse the charges there is no money in the account for them to get. One thing to know, though, is this situation is a cost of doing business that sometimes your customers will be flakey and cheat you out of money. Just realize it happens and don't depend on the money until it clears. If you are selling online, you really need something, credit card processing, Paypal or something. You will lose 90% of your potential customers if you only take checks, western union and money orders. Again, part of the price of doing business today. Paypal has a couple of different options for you to get your money to use. You can get a prepaid debit card through them. It works just like a Visa where you can buy stuff either around town or online. That might be iffy because of your age, so you might check with Paypal about the requirements for that. The other way is you can link a bank account to Paypal. So when you receive a payment through Paypal, you instruct Paypal to deposit it into your bank account. There are a few small charges and it can take a couple days, but it is actually easy. Just look at the costs, and keep those costs in mind when you price your products, and you'll do fine.
