Is it safe to buy things on eBay from china?

Is it illegal to buy products from retailer in china and sell in uk?

  • I want to open up a online store in UK, selling quite.. unique things that you cant find in UK. They are also unbranded, as in.. as far as I know, they are not copies of anything or even meant to look like anything. They are basically unbranded, unique products. You know.. like novelty stationary and female accesories ( necklace, pendants, novelty badges etc). Items that are not infringing on copyrights or trademarks. ANYWAY.. the point is, I have come across a site which is like China's version of Ebay. Its a B2C portal. I was wondering, is it legal to buy things from.. essentially a retailer in China, ship it over to UK, Pay the required tax , state it for intention of commercial use. and sell it here. Is there any problem of this? I suppose this question is kinda like those who ask.. ' is it legal to resell items purchased from another retailer' but in this situation.. This retailer is from overseas... I know some of you may say... ' why buy from retailer as retailer price? when its cheaper at wholesale price'.. well the answer to that is.. because these types of products im looking at, is significantly cheaper in its home market (China) even at retail price. And people will pay premium for it in UK simply because it has become available here. Sorry for the long post. The main question really is.. is it legal to resell items bought from retailer in China. Provided the steps are followed above... Anyone pick fault in this? Thanks in advance

No its perfectly legal. It's your property, you can sell it if you want to. In fact buying used DVDs from places like Hastings is a great way to save money. What would make you think it was illegal?
