• I tried to add an American Express Gift card as a credit card to my account. I have used these Gift Cards as credit cards before, so I know that it should work. I selected American Express as the Card Type. I typed in the credit card number, selected the appropriate Expiration Date, and typed in the 4-digit Card Verification Number. I chose to use my default Billing Address as the billing address for the card. I clicked the Add Card button. There was an error. This message appeared: "We were unable to verify this credit card. Please check if the information you entered is correct. If the problem persists, please try to enter a different credit card." I typed all of the information a second time and submitted the information again, but received the same error message. I tried that 2 more times and continued to get the same error message. Out of curiosity, I went to the American Express site and looked up the statement for my Gift Card. There were four $1 PayPal charges. The name for the charge is: "PAYPAL INC MARK - Purchase with AVS" I decided to try a 5th and a 6th time, but got the same error. PayPal also charged the account two more times. So now PayPal has charged a total of $6 to my account and still claims that the card is not verified. Is there some way to get the card verified? If not, how can I get my $6 back? Also, I do have an actual bank account verified, so PayPal knows I'm over 18. I know they cracked down on gift card use, but I thought that was only for users who aren't verified as being 18.

  Same exact thing happend to me. I've been trying to add my AmEx gift card (50$) to my pay pal account but it would give me error every single time sadly i tried this 10 times , i checked my card balance and it said 40$ i had 10 seperate payments saying "PAYPAL INC MARK - Purchase with AVS" I am extremly mad because they took my money away and didnt allow the card to go thru
