FedEx international delivery: Shipment exception, delay beyond our control?
-
I am freaking out, man.My package that contains $200 worth of contact lenses is stuck in Sao Paolo, Brazil, and this (exception-delay beyond our control) was the latest tracking info FedEx is showing. The estimated delivery date shows as being tomorrow, but if it's still in Brazil, I don't see how that's possible. This being for people who have dealt with international FedEx shipments... I know in the US this message is not as big of a deal, but has anyone gotten this update with an international shipment? It's got me really worried cuz it's stuck in a foreign county. Did you eventually receive your items after seeing this tracking update? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Answer:
As per earlier post, you should contact Fedex and they will inform you, if possible, what the cause of the delay is. Is the package being sent from Brazil to the US, or from the US to Brazil? If it is being sent from US to Brazil, then you package might have been held at ANVISA (Agência Nacional de Vigilância Sanitária), an organism similar to the FDA and the Department of Agriculture in the US; it is responsible for verifying the importation of any agricultural or medical product.

It sounds like a customs issue, that's the most common problem with an int'l package. The date might not change until it clears customs. Normally tho the exception states "customs delay" or something like that. Other possibilities are lack of customs paperwork, weather, or the airport could be on strike. "Delay beyond our control" literally means Fedex can't control whats happening. You can try calling the 800 # and see if they can tell you what the issue is.
