How can I know that I have received money with Western Union?

Does anyone know if the SENDER sending money using western union money transfer needs id to do so?

  • from Australia sending money to China. i went to the post office today, lady said i need id but i dont have my license or an up todate passport. Can we send money if we dunt have id BUT we have the receiver's id.. e.g: their id number or something. i forgot to ask her, was kinda pissed that she didnt allow me to send without id, since i had made this same transaction last yr without id successfully. need to know by tomoro, if not =( much appreciated, thanks to those that reply. wrong category, who cares didnt know which it goes in

  • Answer:

If you go in person to send money. then YES you need a valid i d. the reason behind this is to verify who you are. this is for security reasons. in the past you didn't need an i d. but now since the world has gotten in such bad shape. with all the tarriest attacks. money laundering and scams. Western union/money gram both require id to send and receive money. if you send online then you will need a c.c not a debit card. if you go to a post office to send cash. there also YES you would need an i d. as this is a federal facility. good luck. hope this helps you some.

Yes, they ask for IDs now. But if you buy Prepaid Major Credit Card at the Department Store you may send money on-line to most countries. Just use Western Union website. Spares you a trip to the Office, but will cost you about $20. There are some other providers though that migtht not ask for ID.. http://www.sendmoneyhome.org/money-transfers/china.php?countries=AU&destinations=CN&amount=400&submit=Search&submitted=true

Pretty sure you can go to Western Union's website, create an account and send money anywhere--you only need a credit card.
