How do you forward checks?

How long is a bank liable for a mistake they made? Such as post dated checks and undate or unsigned checks?

  • the chech was posted dated by the person who stole it we thought that should of thrown an error up at the bank and we should of been notified. also the person is very stupid lol drugs we think over the last year it has been over 18000 taken. we do take some credit on not checking better but health issuies and things hvae been more of a priorty our fault alittle bit but bank also i believe.

  • Answer:

For one, post dating is illegal, and you could be prosecuted for doing it. Two, a lot of banks put through checks that aren't signed or undated because its usually just an error that happens at a store or whatnot. Three, any checks that were forged have to be dealt with, with the person that forged them. As it sounds, you shouldn't even have a book a checks. Get a debit card and quit trying to blame the banks for YOUR mistakes.

It's illegal to write a post-dated check without money in the account to cover it when you write it, so if the bank cashes a post-dated check, they aren't liable for any damages. Undated might be another issue, and unsigned definitely is. If the other person who signed THEIR name to your checks isn't on your account, they have to be an idiot to do that. But the bank would be liable for cashing those checks.

when the bank opens next, go in person and talk to them. usually your meant to report fraud ASAP else your held liable. take it to the bank and discuss this issue with the manager of the branch
