How can I know that I have received money with Western Union?

Where can I find the Western Union money order control transfer code?

  • Hello everyone. I'm living in the US. I bought a Western Union money order at a corner store (not a big amount, just under $30). Then, I stamped and mailed it to another country as a birthday gift. I should have sent money into his bank account instead, but I just want to make a surprise for my friend so I chose that way. The problem is, he received it but he cannot cash it out. They required the money transfer control number, it's like a security number to cash out and I don't even know I gotta have that number. Where can I sign up for that number? I threw the receipt of the money order away, didn't keep it. Or because I cannot send money like that, which cannot be used in another country, not US. What should I do?

  • Answer:

Yeah the receipt has the control number, but you can also go back to where you got the card and ask them if you can retrieve the mtcn control number, bring some valid id's for identification and I think you'll need to give details to them in order to get the control no. Good luck!
