Cheapest way to mail internationally?

What is the cheapest way to mail something on ebay?

  • what is the cheapest way to mail something on ebay? I don't know if it's cheaper to just get a box and mail or use the boxes you can get free from post office. Say if its clothes and won't fit in envelope....which would be cheaper....and do some people just make up what shipping will be? or maybe weigh it....I have bought things and paid more for shipping than the item was.....just needing help.

You don't just make up a price. Chances are it's going to be wrong if you do. That will either cost the buyer extra they weren't expecting or cost you extra out of your own pocket. If it costs the buyer extra they aren't going to be very happy about it. They might refuse to pay the extra and they might leave negative feedback over it. If you end up paying the extra out of your own pocket it hurts your profit. Flat Rate boxes are meant for heavy items up to 80 pounds. It may or may not be the cheapest method to use. Other methods go by weight and distance. Knowing the exact weight of your package, along with any packing materials you will use, will let you make use of eBay's shipping calculator that will tell each person how much it's going to cost them for shipping according to the shipping method you use. Priority Mail is fast. Parcel Post is slow. Parcel Post is often cheaper but usually by less than a buck. You can not use the free Priority Mail boxes for Parcel Post.

Some people just make up the shipping charge and they think they are being clever asking £10 to mail something that mails Signed for at under £4. Tonight I saw a £30 camera sell for £7 because the seller asked £10 toi mail it. It is not clever. Cheap scales will tell you the packed weight. Every Post Office publishes it's charges on the net. Buyers are not stupid. If you try and rip them off they will respond by limiting their bids by more than you are trying to rob them of. Adding £5 to shipping will know £20 off the end price.
