What does the gold card cover?

American Express! Platinum card vs Gold card (charge)?

  • If you were asked to upgrade from gold to platinum why or why wouldnt you? The annual fee for the platinum card is 450 and the gold is only 125... Anyone out there with the platinum card please tell me the perks of having one? Or is it just something to brag about socailly? I am quite content with my Gold card but if the perks are that much better I may consider? I am not interested in just bragging about the card... and would like more info... to make a better decision. Thanks guys and gals

    no way...none of them if they have fees. I don't care enough to pay what they want just to look good in front of a few people and enjoy limited perks...besides, there is always someone else who has more money and more advantages If i were rich maybe but its still a waste of money...just because you have it doesn't mean you should waste it

On the same token, why pay $125 for Gold when Blue is completely free? I used to have gold, but I realized, I don't need or use any of the special features that Gold card provided. I dropped it for Blue and I have not noticed any difference. What more do you want from your credit card than use it as a charge card? I'd start from your needs, not what the other card might provide you. One perk I know is that Platinum card member gets a human right away when you call. Anything less will require you to go through voice prompts. I liked this feature when Gold had it. Now they don't. You can buy A LOT for 450 dollars.....
