How to cancel an ebay bid?

Answer:
You email the seller and make your case. Only the seller can cancel a bid and some will just to avoid the hassle of dealing with you. if you win, you need to pay. Not paying after you win will mean the seller has to file an unpaid item dispute. After that is found in their favor, you will be restricted from further bidding and may be de-registered permanently from the site.

You can ask the seller to retract the bid because buyer cannot do it. If he agrees you are home free. Otherwise you have to hope someone outbids you.
If it is a genuine mistake, then go here after getting the listing number of the item. http://pages.ebay.com/help/buy/bid-retract.html Hope I helped :)
Hope that someone tops your max bid. When you place a bid, they tell you very clearly that winning an item binds you to the seller in a legal contract. You can refuse to pay as long as you don't have a PayPal account linked to eBay, but then you'll get a negative feedback mark. You can always contact the seller and make up some silly excuse, but that doesn't guarantee anything. Be careful next time.
