Answer:
you do need to know the weight since that is how the places will pay out on your items. So, just use a kitchen scale or a postal scale. Then once you know the weight, I recommend checking out the Silver and Gold Exchange - http://silverandgoldexchange. I recently sent them a huge batch of gold and silver jewelry and was remarkably pleased with their whole process - very easy and professional. And before I sent anything I researched them thoroughly. They have a perfect record and really good reviews. Now I know why. I'm going to send them another bunch soon with some of my mom's stuff. Anyway- you could get some good cash there. See their live price chart too and then you'll have a good idea what to expect. Good luck!

You can't answer this question without knowing the weight of the objects. The weight will let you know how much gold in present when you factor in the karat. 14 karat gold is just over 50% gold. 24 karat it pure gold. Also, if you sell to one of those cash for gold places they don't pay for jewels or anything else. They just give you a rock bottom price on the gold content. The best way to find out what your items may be worth is to take them to a pawn shop.

Wow, you have a LOT of gold that you are considering selling. No person on here can provide you with an honest answer without seeing your gold. The only solid answers we can offer you are on PURE gold, which is currently selling for upwards of $1,200.00 per ounce. I would suggest having your jewelry appraised by more than one party before selling it. You don't want to get ripped off and people are desparate for to buy gold right now as the intelligent know that the value of the dollar is dropping quickly by the day as inflation soars. Good luck!

Check with local gold dealers. Most reputable gold buyers pay between 50% - 60% of melt value. Melt value is 98% of spot price. As an alternative method, you might try selling your gold to a reputable online company. An online company may provide a better price since their overhead expenses are low. As a word of caution, do not sell your gold in the mall.
