What computer games would you suggest for my 50 dad who is NOT computer savvy?
-
My dad has a desktop that is a couple of years old. He's just recently started figuring out how to use a computer. He can e-mail, surf the web... but that's about it. He desperately wants to fiddle around with computer games, but everything he is interested in is either 1.) not going to work on his machine (which is a few years old and not impressive), or 2.) going to be too complicated for him to play. Here are the specs of what he wants/ doesn't want: No 1st person shooter games - he can't grasp walking one direction, looking in another direction, shooting at a specific spot. Too much! Nothing fast paced - and this means nothing normal paced either. He needs a game where he won't die right away. Nothing too old. I tried getting him a bundle of old arcade games and that just bored him. I need something in between. What can I get him that isn't too old, too new, to easy, or to complicated? (He kind of liked the Sims games but the current ones will not run on his computer). THANK YOU!

Answer:
a couple of games that an older man would like would be solitaire or mahjong, but if he likes the games that have people in them there is a game called let's get grillin that's alot of fun, and it has different levels of difficulty so he can make it as hard or as easy as he wants, (there are other versions of let's get grillin called let's get bakin and let's get coookin!) hope this helps(:

Try Roller Coaster Tycoon. It was really popular like 10 years ago, and its a fun game. You make your own amusement park.
I suggest a Starcraft esque game. My dad plays games where he builds an army and battles a CPU opponent, sending little sections off to battle and assigning areas of the battlefield for them. Maybe he would enjoy Minecraft? A sandbox game where you can build anything, while still fighting zombies in the night =D
idk try streetfighteronline.com because u face other people bu t i havent played in so long so i dont memba much bout it but ino its free
lol sounds like my Dad, but after he got used to using the mouse and keyboard at the same time, he REALLY liked PORTAL but before that he enjoyed the old zelda games which he played on emulator also he like tetris and stuff like that
Diablo 2 is really good. I used to play it when I just started using a computer when I was like 5, but it's not a kids game. It came out in 2000, but it doesn't really seem dated. You can play offline or online and take as long as you want. Plus it has a top-down view so you don't have to keep looking around. He might like Starcraft 2 or Warcraft 3 too. Both are real-time strategy games (also latest in their series) World of Warcraft is really fun too regardless of what people say about it. Some people take it really seriously, but you can choose a new-player realm which is only people that just got the game. He might not want to pay for the subscription though.
The only thing I can get my parents to play with is the Xbox 360 Kinect. It is simple enough for them to grasp and they enjoy it immensely. Games like world of warcraft can be played alone for long periods of time depending on your playstyle, and can be slow paced, once again, depending on your playstyle. I know a lot of people have a stigma against world of warcraft, but you can pretty much play all of the levels with very few deaths at as slow of a pace as you want, just ignore the stupidity of the local population, and don't venture into raids and he will be happy.
