Why is my Xbox 360 scratching my disk?

• i hope this isn't too much,but im an xbox 360 newbie and i would like some help: 1- how to record games on xbox 360? 2-on the xbox dashboard it says i can join xbox live for free, but i heard i gotta pay 50 dollars a year,witch one is correct? 3-sometimes in a couple of games i hear a bit scratching from my console when i play and i think its from the disk, but that sound increases as i play the games further and somehow it cause it to stop and load for a little while, what should i do? 4- im very careful about choosing my games so i wont choose a game i don't like, could someone write me a list of good games i could play?

  recording games? idk some games have that feature built in, but you'd need some kind of third party device to record it. yes xbox live SILVER is free, allows you to chat and explore online but not play games. gold is for playing online games. xbox360's make that noise in my experience, i got a brand new game and put it in, heard that noise, i ejected it. no scratches at all. it's OK shooter: battlefield 3 RPG: Skyrim racing: Forza 4 Puzzle: Portal 2 (trust me it's lengthy, and fun)
