How do i upgrade my hacked psp?

i want to play psp again. I haven't played in a few years. The version it is running right now is 5.00 m33-3. I see that the newest firmware is already 6.xx. Do I need to upgrade to that in order to play new games and also playing them online? Do i even need to upgrade? please help me. i also don't understand all these firmwares on the psp hacking sites...there are too many...i don't understand all this...i only know that the numbers like "5.00" is the version. what is "m33-3" then? i see that people have other things behind the version. what do those mean? someone kind enough, please explain it to me...thanks in advance!

stick to m33 and upgrade that to m33-6. You should be able to find an update for that online just by googling "5.00 m33-6 download" If you want to play a newer game, you probably won't be able to play the disc, just buy the game and rip the iso by changing usb mode to iso (or you can download it, but you should know how to do that) m33 and all the other suffixes are the team that hacked it pretty much, there's chickHEN, pro-b and m33 that are the big ones that I know of. I use 5.00m33-6 and I feel it's the most stable overall and can play just about anything given the right workarounds. I second the link given by the previous answerer. Hope I was of help
