How to play 2 player on ps3 online?

    I'm sorta confused... why the need to play online if you only want to play with your roomate? if you mean to play online WITH your roomate together... only certain games permit that mode.. usually co-op... did that help or am I not understanding your question?

Its called Offline Co-op you don't need to be online there is no point when your room mate is right there . Just press Start with the second controller and your good to go .However your room mate needs a gamertag in order to play not online but to be able to play Offline thats why he/she your room mate cant play i think im not sure .
