Why does game system like Nintendo DS, has worse graphics than other handheld game systems like PSP?

And a bunch of other stuff, these are just some examples. Once again, I just need your opinions for my Business class I am taking. So please just answer the questions. Thanks!

  normally when it would come to stuff like this I would do it myself. Some things like downgrading a psp are relatively easy. As for doing the mod chip thing, if I was comfortable enough with internal circuitry of the system I would do it.
