Why are my steam games so slow?

Why do some Steam games give you an activation key but don't need it?

  • Some of my steam games (such as borderlands) have DLC you can download and they sometimes have an activation key that pops up at the bottom. Using borderlands as an example, i downloaded 2 of the 3 DLC's and they both have activation codes, one asked for it, and i typed it in, well the other still hasnt asked for it, and theres nothing in the main menus to do with it, am i leaving something out or not doing something? or is it just a pointless steam thing? Fallout 3 GOTY has this as well.

    So you can redownload them later if you lose your files. Write them down, it's very important that you do. It's better than paying for it twice.
