Xbox Live Connection Problem?

XBOX LIVE- connection problem. please help, am really stuck :(?

  • I have a router that is sending connection to my upstairs computer. i am then connecting xbox i bought yesterday to my pc that is receiving the signal from the router. i am connecting the xbox to the pc via ethernet cable. when i click on test connection thing it aknowledges that im connected via wired. but when it tries to gather ip info thing it says failed. I'm not very good at pc language so please explain as simply as possible. i tried usign my router IP, not working, tried getting IP from my computer, not working , tried with IP already in xbox factory settings, not working :( someone plleasse help im really stuck and i see no way of getting out of this. its my birhtday in 2 days and im having family around and i dont wanna ask again for another £40 for the wireless adapter thing. :( -ben x

    Because you cant do that fool. You have to buy a wireless router adapter for the Xbox They cost like 20-70 dollars.

You need to activate something called "Internet Connection Sharing" on your PC to bridge the connection from your PC to the 360. Without the connection sharing, your PC does not route the messages from your 360 to the router.

Make sure your network passcode is correctly entered into the system settings. Also, you need to plug your xbox into the router, not the computer.
