Which is better for gaming purpose? A mid range laptop or a psp?
-
I'm not talking about the high end laptops having i7 processor, 8 gb ram, 1gb nvidia card etc. I'm talking about a 800$-900$ laptop. I'm not interested in other capabilities of laptop or psp. I have good experience of ps2 but its not portable. Laptop and psp both are portable. I also heard about ps2 emulators etc. So which is better for gaming purpose only. (plz don't suggest other devices)

Answer:
perhaps i would prefer PSP based on my experience with it.the clarity in it is extremely superb!.but if u want to play with a big screen then it would be a mid range laptop.but see to it that the laptop which u r gonna purchase is a good company one and has all the requirements to have a good gaming experience.

A $800~ laptop will provide you a decent performance in most games. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834246153 Laptops are more capable in gaming without any question. You can watch videos, movies, surf the web, do projects/homework, chat with your friends, social networks..and so much more on a laptop, that psp doesn't provide. Laptops would outlast psp imo, and provide more bang for your buck. But unless your laptop is plugged into a power socket, you can't really play demanding games as the battery would drain fast.
Come on now, what should I buy for gaming an atari or a ps3? Get the laptop. And yes you can hack a psp for emulators and eboot psx games but it's much easier on a laptop anyway, without all the other things having a laptop brings.
If you're going to go for the laptop, spending that much money on a desktop will get you 2x the performance, if you choose well. But i guess you want games on the go. I would get the psp vita(not sure if its released yet) cause it looks amazing :) good graphics, dual analog stick things, and touchscreen. Its a mini ps/smartphone hybrid! But its only for gaming of course.
ps2 emulator require really powerful pc's. this decision depends on what kind of game you want to play. simple as that. psp's can be hacked so you can have nes, snes, sega, arcade, etc emulators. hacked psp are capable of playing almost ANY ps1 game you can rip and convert.
Before jumping in and making a purchase I highly recommend you check out this laptop reviews :) I picked out some which I think are true value for money yet still offering high performance. It really depends on what type of gaming you're looking for. PSP has a different feel for gaming. It's more closely related to PS2/PS3/WII/XBOX, consoles in other words. However, a laptop can still hold quite a few games that are also on consoles. I would personally go with a laptop as an avid PC gamer. The laptop can handle decent games. You won't be able to play 2011 games with higher end graphic needs but it'll get the job done on minimum requirements for sure. Plus it's more accessible to the net.
laptop will have better graphics, but there are a lot of good psp games that you'll be only able to play them on psp. Also a psp is more portable cuz its much smaller and you can take it where ever you want.
