The Sims 3 has nothing to do with it - the games are completely separate, so let's drop that from the list of possible issues. Second, if you do not have a system that fully meets the game requirements, loading will never be a fast thing, and may hang the game. Memory is particularly important when loading occurs. I would make sure you have 1GB of RAM. Less than that will give you problems. 2GB would be better. If your system is low on free drive space, this can cause a problem too, since your computer will not be able to allocate virtual memory, or use additional space for saved game content. I'm not sure what you mean by a game menu, since none of them have loading bars. Do you mean a loading screen? Do you get to the neighborhood chooser? If you do, can you get from there to a neighborhood view? For any neighborhood? If you can, can you load a house? If you answered no to either the first or second, and are 100% sure you don't have any third party hacks, files or custom content (to include anything downloaded, especially lots, even if it claims there is no custom content in it), then I suspect saved game corruption. If you downloaded a sim or lot that claimed there was no custom content, then I suspect that is the problem, since hacks and bad CC can still hitch a ride into your game that way. If you are fine until you try to load a lot, then try another lot. If only one lot is affected, I'd scrap it and the family that lived there, but it may be a symptom of a bigger problem. If the problem happens when you select a neighborhood, try another one. If you can load others, but just not one, that item is corrupted. You would be better off taking the entire contents of My Documents\Ea Games\The Sims 2 and moving it (not copy) to another location and start the game again. If at this point, your game loads, and it will take a while as it creates new saved game files for you) something in your saved files was corrupted (common). You now have new files, and can start playing again, but your previous progress is lost. If your game still does not load, then you may have a problem with the installed game itself (rare). If this is the case, then go to EA Games in the support tools area and download the Sims 2 uninstaller to completely clean the game off your system. Then reinstall the game followed by all the official patches for the game and every expansion/stuff pack you own. Good luck
