I can't update my psp?

I have a old psp 1006 I bought it 4 years ago. But I've never updated my psp because I don't know how to do it. I recently tried to update my psp and it says ( this game can not be started DADADADA) Since I don't know how to update my psp by myself. So can I bring my psp to the game store and tell them to update it for me. Is this possible?
