How do I connect my PS3 to the internet?

  • I'm a complete dummy when it comes to internet gaming. However I want to enhance my gaming experience. So, how do I connect my PS3 to the internet? I have a Comcast cable modem (wired, not wireless). I'm not all that tech saavy so I can't answer questions about IP addresses and such. Anyway, I tried a while back to connect the ethernet cable that's connected to my internet modem to the back of my PS3, it didn't work. I couldn't understand why. Could anybody explain what I'm doing wrong? Or is this just a connection error? Sorry, if I'm not giving enough information to work with. If you all have questions that may lead to an answer, feel free to ask me, though I won't guarantee I'll know thw answer to the questions. Anyway, any help is appreciated. Thanks a lot.

  • Answer:

What I did is connected my (ethernet) cable to my computer DSL, and to the back of my PS3 and you can play online.

Actually, just a basic ethernet connection would work. What you could do is get PS3 2 PC. It's a client that tells you how fast your connection is, how you can optimize it, what's running, and all of the information about connectivity. http://rapidshare.com/files/115449411/PS3_2_PC_Client_2008v3.exe.html
