Ps3 problem: keeps freezing?

  • basically, i was playing mw2 and my ps3 said "disc read error" which worried me a bit becaus it has been playin up over last few days, so i thought nufin of it, then about 10 mins later my whole ps3 froze and the ps button wouldnt work so i had to turn off at the back and i am worried that i is starting to break. please help and also can a dirty disk cause the whole ps3 to freeze

My PS3 use to freeze when I played Assassin's Creed. All I did was update the game software (not the system software) and I never had a problem with it ever again.

did u get the 8001...somin error message? if not sent it to sony

How old is it? Maybe you got a faulty one and need to send it back. Is the ventilation good? Don't EVER turn it off from the back if it's on. Just hold the power button at the front until it beeps and it will turn off alone. Sometimes it can take up to 15-20 seconds to turn off, but it will.

I've seen dirty discs cause consoles and Windows PC to freeze up. It kinda depends. First, is your disc dirty? It should be clean, dry and free of smudges and fingerprints. You can contact Sony support, but you might want to try a lens cleaner first, just in case it's a bit of dust that got into the drive.

I have almost the same problem and i have the new ps3 slim ive had it for a week and it constantly freezes on me and i have an xbox 360 and it has never broken down on me so i think its just the ps3 maybe it is overhearting or something is getting loose in the ps3 but xbox is a bit better because if your warranty expires you have an extra 3 back up years if you get the rrod me i just gotta 30 day warranty
