How to make hollowed out teddy bear?

  • BASICALLY, I have some stuffed toys I would like to turn into this: http://zuzutop.com/2011/10/emergency-teddy-bear/ I considered just making some of my old toys into backpacks (like someone did here http://www.cutoutandkeep.net/projects/stuffed_animal_backpack_2) but I wanna do that as a LAST resort. I want to do the one of the link I first posted. If anyone can give me any tips on how to execute this, itd be awesome

    It depends on the fabric the the bear is constructed of. It looks like this fabric wouldn't unravel. They simply cut it across the midsection, took out some stuffing and sewed a shallow gusset into it. It doesn't appear to have a "latch" to close it, just the weight of the bear that holds it together when it sits upright. It might be easier to cut off it's bottom and do the insert down there. It depends on if it is a sitting or standing bear. A pair of overalls with shoulder straps would hold it together.
