How does the Left-Outer Join in Linq (C#) work?

What does ch 3(does not count as a st), work 9 dc in a ring; do not join mean?!?

  • i'm a really really beginner crocheter. i know the basic single crochet and dc but i don't quite understand this ring business. i'm really really dedicated to this pattern. I want to get it, and well a beginner has to learn somehow otherwise how else would i get better haha. here's what the pattern said: WRAP Ch 3; join with sl st in first ch to form a ring. Row 1: Ch 3 (does not count as a st), work 9 dc in ring; do not join. so am i supposed to chain 3, than do the slip st in 1st ch. i get that. then i ch another 3? (why does it not count as a st?) And that is where i get really lost. so now i have this loop, then i chained the 3 but what or how do i perform the work 9 dc in a ring? (is it referring to the small loopy thing i made or is this a new loop to make?) and then what does it mean by do not join?

  • Answer:

chain 3 on your hook, join a alip stitch to the first chain you made and this will make a ring. now double crochet 9 times into the ring- "do not join" means do not slip stitch at the end, instead continue to next step going in rounds- basically do not turn if you have any other questions you can email me at [email protected]

You worked 3 chain and joined to make a ring. That is the ring referred to later. Row 1: Ch 3, don't worry about why you don't it just do not count it. To work 9dc in the ring you insert the hook into the middle of the ring, not into any of the chains that make up the ring. Do not join means do not join any part to any other part. In other words do nothing except the next instruction on the pattern.

It says not to count it to be specific. In many crochet patterns the first ch 3 (or ch 2) is counted as the first double crochet. But in your case they do not want you to count it because you would have too many stitches for that particular row. When it say do not join it is because you will not be making a complete circle. You don't say what you are making.
