How old do you have to be to work at dunkin doughnuts?

I work in cicero il at a dunkin doughnuts i work 8 if not 9 hours a day with out a break do i have a case?

  • Answer:

Illinois labor law only states one 20 minute break after 5 hours. Raises are at the discretion of the owner and not regulated by law. Also they can work you 6 days, One day off in 7 is the law. If you want to complain you go to the boss first. Then if it does not change you go to the labor board. They will investigate and tell you if you have a case. Suing is the last step not the first.

Legally, you are supposed to have a 10 minute break if you work 4 hours, and a lunch break if you work more than 4. And, you're supposed to get a 10 cent raise every 6 months

I know that if you're in the UK they are breaking the law, I suspect they would be elsewhere, too.

It doesn't sound as if you can afford a lawyer. Get on the corporate website, see if you can't find a copy of the company's policy on breaks. You are correct, it is not legal to deny you a break if you are working eight hour days. I would hope the mere threat of a lawsuit would be enough to make the owner adhere to the law. Try *threatening* first. If you get no response or see no change, I would get in touch with someone at the corporate HR office, and keep working your way up the food chain until you find someone with enough sense to realize you could not only sue, but WIN.
