Should I send an email to my fellow co-workers as today will be my last day working with them?

An Email is a nice touch. just say. "I would like to thank everyone for your continued co-operation and friendship over the past two years. I have enjoyed working with you and I wish you all the best".

If you have already given the HR Department and/or your bosses your resignation letter, it should be fine. If you have made friends with your co-workers, you can even include your cell phone # and personal e-mail address in case they want to keep in touch with you.

I think kind words are never a bad idea. Wouldn't you like to hear how nice it was to work with you or how much your kindness was appreciated? Of course you would. Send a nice, but brief email to everyone. Dear friends... I just wanted to say thank you for all you've done during my last 2 years here at Smith and Company. I really appreciate the time you spent training me and helping my day to be more pleasant. It's been wonderful working with you all, and I hate to go. Thanks again! Missy I would also go personally to a few of the individuals who you were especially fond of (AND THE BOSS) and say something personal. I would thank the boss for his support.

when i left i did the same thing, copying my home email address letting them know if they wanted to keep in touch i put in my home address. it's a nice touch!

It is very common to write a thank you letter sent to the entire office when one is leaving a job. Just keep it short and simple - pretty much what you've already written in your question. That you'll miss them, that they were a fabulous bunch of people to work with, etc. Don't single out any specific people in the email. If you have specific praise for a person, you would go to them and say it in person. If you are all really that close, I would expect some kind of gathering sometime this afternoon. At that point, you could simply say your thank-yous out loud to the group and skip the email if you wish.
