Is Green or Black tea toxic for rats?

How to get rid of rats ( a.k.a. people who think a business is for public use )?

  • dad owns a coffee shop. does very well. mon-fri about 1,000 a day. and sat and sun about 3,000+ a day. anyways congress is on vacation cause recession for 6 months. . .so its been slow in the morning. i go help my father a lot at the shop. but there are so many rats. because of the free wi-fi. some people have common sense and buy something a hot tea or a bottle of water. and a shops has a maximum capacity. so we cannot seat more than about 20 ppl. people walk in with a laptop don't buy anything and just sit there using our wi-fi for 7 hrs. when there is a customer that comes in everyday and buys 20 dollars worth of food and drink. but when he finds there is no seating he leaves. beacuse of the laptop rat. some come in and say can i have a cup to tap water and sit there with their laptops. ppl come in and say can i use the bathroom and don't buy anything and sit there with their laptop. people with common sense buy soemthing even if its a little to use the bathroom. or put money in the tip jar as they head out. and we have been trying everything to chase these people out. but there is not much we can do. people don't understand that this is a business how can you just go and do that to somebody. its not a public library. have you guys ever had expereince with dealing with people like these? we also have out door seating but those rats are easy to get rid of saying. only customers are allowed to use the seating outside. but idk how to chase the ones from indoors out and away. as for putting up signs. we tried. people can't seem to read. we even put no public restrooms. and one time it was really out of order. put a sign on the door. and people still walk in and say. are you bathrooms really out of order? can't you read?? some people. . . i understand the pain people have to go thru when having to deal with a lot of people. 1 outta 3 people are so stupid they should just get hanged. whats the color of tea? a light orangey color. whats the color of coffee? dark dark brown. there are 2 drinks on the bar. a iced coffee and a iced tea. u order a tea. and u take the coffee. . .put sugar in and after u taste it, u say ugh is this iced tea? . . . HANG YOURSELF. or red strawberry smoothie. its red. . . mango mango smoothie is yellow. how the hell do u mix that up? . . . and ppl who are difficult. if ur allergic to everything make ur own food instead of pissing off everybody who owns a business. stick to the menu. OH! bravo! Thanks i guess we can do that. but that is also very annoying if we are busy. which can become a problem. If a avg coffee cost around dollars lets say. and we make 3,000 + on saturday. thats a lot of chaos. and along with that there going to ask for the password. . . and if they know if everyone will tell each other. than we have to change it again and be asked questions again. but thanks we shall give it a try haha yea i guess so i guess its just cause i was standing on my feet for so long for days straight so i was getting angry my dad does it everyday so i know why he has white hair lol but after summer i have to finish high school so i don't have to slave for my dad anymore. and no more dealing with difficult people. . .

  • Answer:

If you have posted signs.....the only thing you can do is physically ask them to leave if they aren't buying anything. Explain that it's a business and if they don't buy anything from your business they have to leave. Make sure the signs are large (but tasteful) and explain that the free WiFi is for paying customers ONLY. If you want to stay profitable it's the only thing you can do.

You should still do the signs. But beware - signs don't work if you don't enforce them. If this is really a problem, get ready to have to be the "bad guy" for these moochers and politely let them know that the policy (as it is stated on the door, etc.) is that anyone using Wi-Fi needs to be a paying customer. Or you can do what I've seen other coffee shops do - they do free Wi-Fi for their customers, BUT the customers have to use a code to access it. The shop owners only give out the code to those who come up to the register to buy something. You can change it on a daily basis even, so that the code isn't given out to others. This is something they could talk to their service provider about. I understand when you're in a job servicing the public, you will come across a lot of annoying behavior and people. But that's what you agree to deal with when you open up a business such as a restaurant or coffee place. People are never going to behave the way you want them to. It's just a fact of life. Edit: To save a little time, ask customers with a computer or backpack if they will need internet services, if so, then just write the code on the bottom of their receipt.
