Isn't it too bad that SSI and section 8 housing are abused? I'm upset they are!?

SSI and section 8 housing should go to disabled people who need it. I have tried to collect SSI and have been turned down. I was told that there is a 10 year waiting list for section 8 housing in my area. Unfortunatley an acquantance of mine got a 1 bedroom apartment in a prime area in the Los Angeles area on section 8. The one bedroom apartment rents out for $1600 per month. Because she is on section 8 she pays $200 per month while tax dollars pay the rest. This 22 year old girl is not disabled. She is a very good lier and actress fake. She works several under the table jobs such as waitressing and works at a non-profit credit union. Both employers pay her under the table so she won't loose her SSI benefits. This girl has no problem keeping a job or finding a job. She was able to get SSI because she claims she is too nervous to work. What BS! I have mild CP, mild Tourets and a mild learning disability and the SSI office tells me I don't qualify for SSI. I was told at the HUD office that there is a 10 year waiting list for section 8 in my area. This girl goes to a local community college and gets free classes because she is low income. She enrolls in classes and drops them and the city college gives her a cash refund. I'm sure many people in this thread including myself are discusted about this. I have a BA degree and can't find work because of my disability. I deserve SSI and section 8 housing more than this girl does. Why should I have to move out of LA and go to Phoenix,Portland, Las Vegas, Milwaukee or Denver to get a job and be able to afford my own apartment. I would have to say goodbye to my friends and family here in LA to find affordable housing when abusers who are not disabled get free housing.

Answer:
Well, If you have not turned her in you are part of the problem. When people break the law, those who see the crime must report it. If those people do not, the system continues to be abused. Call the housing authority and all the powers that be in her case and give them the addresses of her jobs and her work schedule and let her but end up where it belongs, behind bars. Then you can set back knowing you did the moral thing.

You are so correct- these people are parasites. My cousin fell years ago while roller blading and landed on the back of his head. He suffered a blood a blood clot in his brain and is brain damaged. He has been turned down for disability and housing assistance many times, so my aunt and uncle, who are in their late 70s support him. Knowing someone in my family suffers like you, really makes this situation hit home. Luckily my aunt and uncle are in a financial situation to help him, or his brother or sister would have to take him in, or he'd be homeless. Good luck with you situation, tho I'm sure moving away breaks your heart.
