HEY PEOPLE , READ THIS!! The godless amazonian tribe? interesting?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pirah%C3%A3_people I find it very strange that the tribe refused to believe a missionary about god/Jesus without evidence, yet the tribesman insisted to him that a "being from above the clouds" was standing in front of him yelling about the jungle, yet the missionary could not observe this XigagaĆ spirit. I also find it strange that these people are so "evidential" yet won't salt/preserve meats, and have even, by themselves, adopted sort of a socialist idea while expecting the missionary to give them a canoe. I've also read that they have no concept of time; what do you think this tribe thinks of the afterlife ideas??

Answer:
That was an interesting article, about the people who not only had no concept of numbers, but refused to be taught how to count. When shown by a master builder how to construct a needed canoe, they instead refused to do so, and insisted that the stranger just buy one for them. They did seem to have some sort of a spirit deity, called Xigagaí, who supposedly lived above the clouds but could appear to them. They also believed in spirits that could inhabit animals and trees. However, since they refused to believe anything that happened in the past that was not in the experience of a living person, they felt that Jesus could not be proven to them if he lived two thousand years ago and the person speaking of him had not seen him alive. Since they are already wearing T-shirts traded from another tribe, it won't be long before they adopt a lot of the things of the 21st Century and probably change their ideas.

Kind of shows us that our ideas of an afterlife are as ridiculous to outsiders as theirs might be to us. Off the point but I like the way the article mentions they refer to themselves as "the straight ones". Maybe if we dig a little deeper into the jungle we'll find another tribe with nice fabric huts and men wearing a lot of pink :p
In the book of Acts, the people of Berea refused to believe Jesus was the messiah without research. What's so strange about that? I refuse to believe atheism without proper evidence. Will I ever get any? No. Atheists are imbeciles. How could they even find any?
thank you for this it was good reporting . Could they be like the woman in Genesis that was given no name: who said I know see the One who sees me. She named her G-D Ro-eem The One who sees me. Genesis 16:13 And she called the name of the LORD that spake unto her, Thou G-D seest me: for she said, Have I also here looked after Him that seeth me ?
