Where can i find software to practice for the ged test?

GED testing, Practice question I need help with?

  • Please do not be judge-mental. I have never attended high school because of a death of a parent and it made me fall apart. I am now 16 years old and i'm trying to get my life together. I am pretty bad at math and I need help on taking this test. One of these questions are: What is the value of | 7 - 2 | - | 2 - 7 | ? the answers are multiple choice and they are: (1) -14 (2) -9 (3)-5 (4) 0 (5) 10 Can you help me find this answer, or explain how I can find it? Greatly appreciated, thank you.

well if you want to know how to do it, the lines on the both sides of the number means absolute value, which just means make the number positive if its not, so 5-5 =0 so the anwser is 4 good luck,

It's zero. The two lines on either end of the two equations stands for "absolute value". In this case, the absolute value of 7 - 2 = 5 (first equation). The absolute value of 2 - 7 = 5 (second equation...2 - 7 = -5 but absolute value is always the positive of the integer, or number) Simplified, you have 5 - 5 = 0.

the lines mean absolute value.... that means what ever is in the lines whether it is negative or positive becomes a whole number..... 7-2 becomes 5. you have to figure them out before you can subtract them from each other. 2 - 7 becomes -5 which has an absolute value of 5.....so 5 - 5 = 0

I believe this is the correct answer: 7 - 2 = 5. Then, 2 - 7 = - 5. Then, 5 - (-) 5 = 0. Answer # 4 (0) is correct. I hope, that's right. Take it easy. I did the GED thing, too! My math wise friend points out, that the stuff in parentheses should always be done first. Otherwise, go from left to right.
