How do you solve system of equations? Im not asking you to solve anything for me, just tell me how plz?

we are having an algebra test and if i don't pass it i cant get my diploma. i could take it next year or the year after that but i wanna get it over with now. so one of the things we have to do is solve system of equations but i don't remember how to do it. i thought if you had one that was like 3y=2x= 3 and the other problem would be like 3xx=y so you solve for x by replacing all of the ys in the first equation with 3xx and do reverse equation and you solve it but then i hace 2 many x's and i get all confused, so that's not working and some of the problems on our study guide nothing isny just a number=y its like -5y+3x=-16 and 10y+4x=62 so i cant do that one either how do you solve system of equations?

take both the equation -5y+3x=-16 & 10y+4x=62 for the 2nd eq. 10y=62-4x divided by 2 we get 5y=31-2x put last eq. in the 1st -(31-2x)+3x=-16 this implies to x=3 substitute x=3 in the 2nd eq. u will get the value of y
