Help im so nervous!!!!!How to prepare for Calculus 1 in college?

  • A lot of my friends have taken calculus their senior year besides me. I would like to go into the major if biomedical engineering. I took honor pre cal and matained a high B(88) in that class. I payed attention, did all my homework, and tried to do the best I can to learn as much as I can in that class. I'm so nervous because everyone been saying how hard calculus is and how I should of taken it in high school my senior year. I plan on taking calculus at a community college and im worried because a lot of people said that many of the professor cant speak english well. Does Pre-cal prepare you for calculus? How hard is calculus? How long is a calculus college class? Should I take a class to prepare me for calculus? Please help me?!

  • Answer:

Pre-cal prepare you for calculus. Calculus 1 begin with limit of a function, derivative rules, applications, anti-derivative. Calculus 2 begin with integral, applications, function of several variables... To begin Calculus 1 we must know... a) Set of numbers classification b) Notation of interval c) To solve inequality d) To solve equations, linear, quadratic and other. e) To know all types of functions, linear, quadratic, trigonometric, exponential, logarithm... about functions we must know how is the graph, the domain, the range, the roots, the inverse function, composite functions. OK!

Sometimes professors with accents aren't too bad. That way they don't go overkill on the math terminology, and when they do use big words, it will be in contexts where it's easy to understand. If you can manage it, I highly recommend reading the material before a lecture. That way you'll always be ahead, and when it's time for the lecture, you'll have a much better time understanding. Whatever you do, don't just go to the lecture and not read the book. A lecture by itself is usually not enough for me to finish an entire homework assignment. Depending on the book, each section might take a hour, maybe more to read, and each homework assignment might take up to 2 hours depending on difficulty. Just be prepared to devote enough time to study, and do give the harder problems a try. If you have free time, come on yahoo answers and answer other people's Calc questions hehe.
