How to write an equation in slope intercept form?
-
Okay so its they beginning of a new semester in school and iv been sick most of the time so im behind. Anyways I have a ton of work and have no idea how to do it. My brain has went blank. Someone please explain this to me in detail please. Here are some questions: Write each equation in slope- intercept form, if necessary. Then identify the slope and y-intercept. y= 2x + 3.5 Okay first off what is slope? how do i write an equation in slope intercept form, what is slope intercept? And how can i easily do a problem like that?? Here are some other problems that I need help with. y= -3(x-5) and 10+y= 1/4x Im truly clueless so someone please try and explain simply. Thank you!:)

Answer:
slope intercept form is y = mx + b the coefficient in front of x (m) is the slope b is the y intercept y = 2x + 3.5 m = 2 slope is 2 3.5 is the y intercept (0, 3.5) y = -3(x - 5) y = -3x + 15 m = -3 15 is the y intercept (0, 15) 10 + y = (1/4)x y = (1/4)x - 10 m = 1/4 -10 is the y intercept (0, -10)

The slope of a line is a number (usually a fraction) that describes the direction in which the line is moving. Slope = rise / run = change in y / change in x If you move up 3 squares as you move right 2 squares, the slope is 3 / 2. If you move down 4 squares as you move right 1 square, the slope is -4 / 1 = -4. The tell the slope of a line from its equation, you put it in the form y = mx + b. The slope is m. y = 2x + 3.5 is already in slope-intercept form. The slope is 2 and the y-intercept is 3.5. y = -3(x - 5) y = -3x + 15 The slope is -3 and the y-intercept is 15. 10 + y = 1/4 x y = 1/4 x - 10 The slope is 1/4 and the y-intercept is -10.
slope intercept form is y = mx + b where m is the slope, a constant rate of change, also tells you whether your graph will be increasing or decreasing, if positive then an increasing graph, if negative then a decreasing graph b is the y-intercept, this point will be on the y-axis when x = 0 y = 2x + 3.5 m = 2 b = 3.5 y = -3(x - 5) distribute the -3 to the x and -5 y = -3x + 15 m = -3 b = 15 10 + y = 1/4x subtract 10 from each side 10 - 10 + y = 1/4x - 10 y = 1/4m - 10 m = 1/4 b = -10 hope this helps
the slope is the number in front of the x. it is the rise over run on a graph. for the first problem it is 2. slope intercept form is y=mx+b. y always had to be just y. cant be negative or have a number in front. m is the slope. x is just there b is the y-intercept (where u put the dot on the graph) y=-3x+15 y=1/4x-10
slope is basically the steepness of the line. to find slope use the formula y2-y1/x2-x1. slope intercept form is written in the form y = mx + b. y = y-coordinate, m = slope, x = x-coordinate, b = y-intercept. So in the problem y= 2x + 3.5, 3.5 is the y-intercept, 2 is the slope, and x and y are the given coordinates.
Your first equation y= 2x + 3.5 is in slope/intercept form. The slope is the coefficient of x (in this case, 2). The intercept is the value of y when x=0 (in this case, 3.5).
