What does a mathematician look like?

    they're pretty normal, everyday folks. i think my neighbor is a mathematician. he drives a pickup and goes to work every morning. i see him in the evening when he returns. he usually offers me money. i'll wait there in the drive and when he arrives he usually calls the other neighbor over too. then the ritual begins. say davy he says (my name is davy). say davy - do you want these 5 new shiny dimes or this ol' nasty, dirty quarter. i think for a second and take the quarter. he laughs, rubs my hair and goes on inside. day after day, humiliation after humilation...same ol' thing he never gets tired of it. one day, after he left, the neighbor asks me, says 'hows comes youse always pick the quarter davy?'. i told him that if i chose the dimes, he'd quit playin'. that's a mathematician for you. like me :) I wear blue jeans, green or black tee shirts and nice white tennis shoes. I try to shave at least once a week, but sometimes I forget. When I tackle a math problem, preferably something from abstract algebra or proof theory, I make sure to give myself enough time ahead to reflect on the problems at hand. Sometimes it takes up to a week to solve one problem. While I enjoy doing mathematics, I enjoy helping others in math more so. I enjoy tutoring math and am currently pursuing a teaching credential in the subject. Not all mathematicians like teaching and tutoring, however, and some would prefer to live their whole lives in doors solving really big problems. I'm more of a people person who happened to like math.

A person that tries to... figure out math, sorta. Basically it's their job to know as much about math as possible. They probably dress the same way any of you're teachers dress. Good luck writing an essay on it -__-
