Math, Multiply & rounding to the nearest thousandths..?? Help? :)?
-
I just want to see if i'm right. Please do correct me if i'm wrong. We're rounding to the nearest thousandths here. Question: 0.11 * 4 Answer: 44. Answer on Caculater: 0.44 I put 44, but i'm not sure...? Is it correct, or wrong? :) (please be nice, i'm not exactly a math whiz or whatever). Also, Dividing: Question: 4.2/18 Answer: 0.2333 -right, or wrong? This is rounding to the nearest thousandth, and no, that's not the answer that was given on caculater. Thank you. :)

Answer:
Things to think about to decide if your answers are correct. First question: think for a sec.... if you multiply something less than one (0.11) by 4, is 44 or 0.44 a reasonable answer? Are you sure you typed in all the symbols, including the decimal point, when you used your calculator? Second question: did you type the division in the correct order? Have you correctly identified the "thousandths place?" Remember, in the decimal positions your start with 10ths, not 'one'ths'. Try your exercises again before you look at the answer below. Answers: 0.440 and 0.233
