Why is the sky red at night when it's snowing?

Anwhatw e see in the night sky is the past or current present ? specialy the andromedae?

  • We know understand that aproximate between 4 to 5 billion years time.. the andromedae galaxy is to collide to the milkyway galaxy. So what we see in the night sky is like a acient image of what exactly happens millions and billions of years ago almost at the starting point of the begining life as we speak of the universe. So this andromedae galaxy is heading towards us.. we can spot it.. But isnt it allready posibly came to our milkyway by know since what we see in deep space is actually not there anymore and its what you see the past.. just like looking the past time.... So msot things you see collitions between stars to stars and so on happen and we can see a past virtual image of it in space... So isnt everything we see aint there in real terms? course what we see we see the past and not the current present as we speak. So anything that is millions and billions far away from us.. is consider seen things from the past or current as we speak ? Course ive heard that anything that far away from us is considered seen things from the past.. but in real terms virtualy in real moments its actually not there anymore... we just seen the past in real time like picture frame... So im abit confuse to know why isnt the incomming galaxy that in 4 to 5 billion years time will collide with the milkyway.. If what we see in the night sky is actually not there anymore but we are seen it as it was millions and billions years ago.. then..... dont you think the andromedae galaxy would had allready collide our milkyway and that as we speak... we dont actually exsist here course we are all gone humanity and that everything we are doing is a back in time thing ? Whatever that suppose to mean think about the past thing and whats really current. You cant just say what you see in the night sky is current now and the other past isnt.... if its the past.. then the whole universe and stuff we see is equal not just some stuff isnt there anymore but we can still see it just seen the past.

  • Answer:

We see the past. The further something is, the further in the past is appears to us. The Andromeda is 2.5 million light years away, which means we see it as it was 2.5 million years ago. No, it hasn't already come to us, because it's moving a lot slower than light. It will take Andromeda several billion years to get here. Pretty much everything you see in the night sky is still there. Perhaps one or two stars have gone supernova. But stars usually live for many millions or even billions of years.

The answer is very short - when you look at Andromeda, you watch what happened 2,5million years ago. So you look into the past. Just imagine ..... if there is some star in the Andromeda galaxy, a sun like ours, with a planet orbiting in a proper distance, with intelligent life (if anyone would call us intelligent!) and someone there is watching earth through a very large telescope, they would see what happened here on earth 2,5 million years ago. /Henrik - Denmark
