Jupiters great red spot becoming Oval B.A?
-
PLEASE READ: I've looked it up and apparently the Great Red Spot turns counter-clockwise and Jupiter turns clockwise. Also from my previous questions the Great Red Spot goes away then comes back, but at the same time on a different website, it said the red spot is going away and oval B.A or red spot jr. is taking its place. If thats true, is the red spot going away because it moves the opposite way jupiter is turning, and red spot jr. is part of the Great Red Spot, or is it something else? There is alot of stuff i'm trying to figure out and i'm not sure if what i think is right. DONT READ THE TOP PART OF THIS PLEASE THIS IS CLEARER INFO ON WHAT IM TRYING TO ASK:sorry about the big additional stuff, the basic thing i want to know is: is the GRS dissapearing then coming back (not confirmed), because it rotates the opposite way jupiter rotates (not confirmed), or is the GRS going away and reforming as the red spot jr. or is the GRS going away and red spot jr is just forming by itself? or not any of these. from a previous question someone said it went away then came back and im wondering if its because it rotates the other way. I know we still have to do more research, just give me whatever you know.

Answer:
Everything about the GRS is unclear or unknown. Its cause and why it has lasted at least 400 years so far are unknown. http://csep10.phys.utk.edu/astr161/lect/jupiter/redspot.html It is true that the GRS rotates in one direction. That is an internal rotation. It rotates with the planet. But other parts of the planet's cloud bands rotate at different rates from the GRS and each other. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atmosphere_of_Jupiter As to the GRS future appearance and position, only observations will show. There are no good predictions. Christopher Go of Cebu, Philippines takes the best shots of Jupiter from Earth. http://jupiter.cstoneind.com/
