Your probably not looking for anime, but Code Geass (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0994314/) is exactly that, and in great detail. Also Hunger Games, although the film is not out but the books are good. If you haven't seen it Life is beautiful is an amazing movie about the Nazi era. That's all I can think of on the top of my head. There's the obvious Brave heart but I'm sure you've already seen it I'll edit if I can think of some more for a better answer. \edit: batman I think you just won with that "V" Pick, forgot about that one.
