Can I use straight talk on my ipod to use as a regular cell phone without wifi?

Long story on why i dont have a cell phone right now, So i am wondering if there is anyway i can use "straight talk" from walmart and use that on my ipod to turn into a regular cell phone. I have apps on it to text but i want to be able to text and call people when there is no wifi (just like a regular cell phone). Is there anyway i can turn my Ipod Touch into my own cell phone without having to buy a new cell phone?
