Why are my VHS transfers so quiet?

Can vhs movies be transfered to DVD?

  • Answer:

OK Don't worry about copy protection, it's not a problem. You'll need your VCR and a DVD recorder. If in the US, connect the VCR and DVD recorder using the SVHS (yellow) and Stereo RCA (one white, one red) cable. If in the UK/Europe you need to use the SCART lead. The leads on the VCR need to be coming out of the output socket, and into the recording inputs on the DVD. It would be a good idea to link the DVD recorders output to the TV so you can check that it's actually working. Now all you need to do is play the video, set the dvd to the right input and press record on the dvd recorder (make sure it has a dvd-r in first!) I hope that helps I know it looks/sounds complicated, but it really isn't. If you have trouble, try getting someone more technologically adapt, like a teenager, to help you.

JebusHer...

It won't be easy, VHS movies like the ones from Disney have a form of copyprotection called Macrovision. If you try and copy it, to another VHS or to DVD, you will notice that the picture will get dark and unstable, it will seem to cycle that way... look normal for a few seconds then dark plus it will have lines it it. It would be a lot easier to find a DVD of the Lion King. Even if Disney has it in their 'vault', you can still find used copies of the DVD.
