  I liked Anton Yelchin as Kyle Reese...he captured all of the nuances of Michael Biehn and made us BELIEVE that he WAS a younger version of that character. He even looked and sounded like him, not only did his voice sound like him, but he captured his speech patterns as well. Christian Bale was intense and focused as usual, but have you ever seen a movie where he's not? As a whole, the movie was entertaining but I can't recommend it. Most of the problems are at the screenplay level, there are some plot holes and they never really delved into Marcus Wright's character. I wanted at least one scene with Marcus where he contemplates his own death and mortality and what he's become - is he denied a soul because he is now a machine? Is he less human, or he is more human? (I would opt for the latter). Also, wouldn't it have been much more interesting and suspenseful if Marcus' loyalties were in question from the beginning? Placing Marcus on the Resistance's side makes the movie boring, because you know that he's 100% on the good guys side. If Marcus were to turn on the humans at any second and serve the machines, that would have given the movie suspense it just didn't possess. Also, the suspense factor is lacking - sure, we have some brilliant high-energy speed chases, but what's the use? We KNOW Kyle Reese and John Connor have to survive, but what about Marcus? Again, back to Marcus: if they had written his character better to include some dramatic tension, we would have had a really special movie. Awesome special effects, action sequences, and performances. But the lack of dramatic tension makes a great movie into a kind of mediocre one.
