Has anybody read "Of Mice And Men?

Does anybody have any deep, innovative insight into the character of Slim from Of Mice And Men?

• I have a controlled assessment next week and I really want to achieve an A*. As revision, my teacher has requested that we do our own research into Slim's character in Of Mice And Men and plan/prepare over the weekend. I have culminated a number of ideas already, but I really need some original insights into his character--relating to his significance in his story--that aren't the obvious ones. Does anyone have any idea? It's the one key thing I need to get the A* on this controlled assessment. It's really important to me, so I would really appreciate it if someone could help me.

  To me slim was a peacemaker and everyone looked to him for advice. He was also in charge, and sometimes expressed that in a very direct way. He was a strong man, especially mentally and had a very strong sense of right and wrong. He was fair, thought things out and didn't jump to conclusions. Kept his emotions under control unless pushed. His significance to the story, to me, was that he was a leader and kept things under control. Steinbeck's books all have really deep meaning. Guess that is why he is my favorite author.
